“Dancing With the Stars” pro and Sundance Film Festival first-timer, Chelsie Hightower, shares her excitement about giving back to the dance community and opening a new performance studio this January. Find out when and where…
Best known as a professional dancer from “Dancing With the Stars” and a fan favorite from “So You Think You Can Dance,” Chelsie Hightower has been all over the world. But even as a world-class traveler, Chelsie is no stranger to Utah. Raised in Orem, UT and a graduate of Utah Valley University, we were surprised to hear she had never made the journey to Park City for the Sundance Film Festival. But lucky for us, we had the chance to chat with her in the middle of her first Sundance experience and to capture her excitement.
“I actually live here and in LA at the same time so I’ve halfway in between but I was already here and have lived here my whole life,” Chelsie said, “but I’ve never been to Sundance before so this is my first experience and I’m loving it so far.”
Pretty soon, Chelsie will have another reason to spend time Utah. She plans on unveiling a performance studio called Hightower Performing Arts Academy in Draper, Utah. A temporary facility is set to open on January 23, 2012 with the grand opening slated for August 2012.
“Singing, acting, dancing — it’s going to be epic,” Chelsie told genConnect. “I know how dancing has changed my life and I really wanted to give that back to other people.”
