Guy Kawaski: 2.5 Minutes With Apple Evangelist and Enchantment Author (VIDEO)
From March 11 through 15, genConnect.com is onsite in downtown Austin, Texas conducting personal interviews with speakers slated to appear at the innovative South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Conference in Austin’s Convention Center.
We are at the event as credentialed press, hosting “2.5 Minutes With genConnect” in the Chevy Volt ReCharge Lounge during the conference.
Today we sat down with a humble legend of the industry, Guy Kawasaki. Author of the new book, Enchantment: The Art of Changing Hearts, Minds, and Actions, Guy reflected on the name of his book and what three companies he feels represent the word “enchantment.” See genConnect’s Kelly Hayes interview with Guy below:

GUY KAWASAKI: Knock on wood.
KELLY HAYES: There’s 15,000 people here. You’ve got a message that I think you’d like to impart to most of those people, and that is that good business comes from the heart?
GUY KAWASAKI: Business comes from the heart. Enchantment in particular comes from the heart. That you have to be a likable, trustworthy person. Then if you have a great product, service, cause, idea, you’ll be enchanting. And I try to explain exactly how to do this in this book.
KELLY HAYES: And is this a book for people who work for companies, or is it really about personal growth and connection?
GUY KAWASAKI: This book is for anybody with $15. How’s that? That’s the niche I’m going after.
KELLY HAYES: Well, $14.99, I think, might be the deal. You come just about every year to South by Southwest?
GUY KAWASAKI: Yes, I do.
KELLY HAYES: And why do come? What is the attraction? What do you come to see?
GUY KAWASAKI: Honestly, I come to South by Southwest because there are no billionaires here. There’s no CEOs of large companies we’ve all heard of. And they’re not traveling with their entourage. It’s just a lot less BS at this conference.
KELLY HAYES: So you go to a lot of different conferences, and this is completely different from many others.
GUY KAWASAKI: I have four kids, so I don’t really get on an airplane unless I’m getting paid to get on an airplane. Except for South by Southwest.
KELLY HAYES: Oh that’s great. Well here we are. Saturday, once again, at South by Southwest with Guy Kawasaki. The book is Enchantment: the Art of Changing Hearts, Minds, and Actions. Guy, it’s great to see you.
GUY KAWASAKI: Thank you.
