The highly-anticipated documentary “Ethel” premiered yesterday at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. The film chronicles intimate conversations and never-before-seen images from the Kennedy family vault spotlighting family pillar and wife of the late Robert F. Kennedy: Ethel Kennedy. Watch filmmaker, director and Ethel’s daughter Rory Kennedy talk about getting the film in front of youth audiences:

The screening was truly a family affair as Rory, Ethel, Bobby Kennedy Jr. and other relatives gathered to watch the film in Park City. While Rory showed excitement about the success and future distribution of the film through HBO, she noted the importance of getting this documentary in front of younger audiences and the challenge it poses.

“It’s always a challenge with documentaries to get them into the school system because there isn’t just one program that you just kind of hand it over to and it gets out to all the public and private schools in the country. So you really have to do it on a case by case basis which is very time-consuming, difficult and challenging,” Rory told genConnect. “That said, there have been some people who have been to the screenings or have read about it and who have already approached us to get it into the school system. It’s something very important to me and I’m certainly going to pursue it.”
