Facebook ranks the highest for fun and keeping up with friends and family while blogs rank highest to learn about new products, for product recommendations and to make purchase decisions, according to a 2012 BlogHer study.
“What I look for, first and foremost, is what my friends are talking about and what my friends are using,” Vest told genConnect. “I hear them on Twitter, I see them on Facebook, and they might by using a cool new little thing called Instagram or Pinterest and I’ll go, ‘What’s that?’ and I’ll pop on over and see what that’s all about. The next thing you know it’s on the front page of the New York Times.”
Our attachment to new media is coming in all forms, Vest says, as she admits she has three phones, two iPads and a laptop. But whether it is online or mobile, women are on top of it.
“If you follow what the women are doing,” Vest says, “you will follow the buzz. It’s that simple.”
