The E-Patient Movement: Empower, Enable, Engage (VIDEO)

Social media continues to play a fundamental role in corporate strategy, advertising and non-profit work – and the health care industry is no exception.  Social media is evolving quickly in the health care sector, according the VP of Digital Health at Edelman’s NYC office Shwen Gwee. Watch Shwen with genConnect’s Nancy Spears in the video below on the E-patient movement and online resources for consumers to improve their health.

“I think there is a huge sort of wave of change going on in health care right now that’s really driven by this whole rise of social media and the ability for patients and consumers to connect online and find information,” Shwen said. “It’s the accessibility to this information that they’ve never had before that’s really driving conversation, discussions, and sort of just connections with other patients and other people who are willing to give up info that was always held behind very tight closed doors before.”
