This isn’t the first time that Obama has taken to online platforms to discuss national and international issues. Obama has been hailed as the most tech-savvy U.S. president-elect to date, based on his heavy use of new media and social networking. His presence on Twitter is undeniable with 10,295,440 followers and counting in addition to a strong following on Facebook, with over 23 million likes, more than any other presidental candidate. He has even reached out via YouTube.
This live chat is the first indication of a new online alliance between Yahoo! and ABC News. The two will join forces to launch a strategic online news alliance that will deliver content to more than 100 million U.S. users each month, according to an annoucement by Yahoo! today. This new venture combines ABC News’ global newsgathering operation with Yahoo! News’ unmatched audience and breadth of content.
“This relationship will give ABC News an unrivaled ability to reach across the Web, combining Yahoo!’s vast distribution and cutting-edge technology with our award-winning journalism. For years, we’ve proudly proclaimed that more Americans get their news from ABC News than any other source,” said Ben Sherwood, president of ABC News in the annoucement. “Going forward, we will greatly expand this leadership by building a connection with a whole new online audience.”
Don’t forget to tune in to the interview with Obama today at 2:35 p.m. ET, which will be webcast live on Yahoo.com and ABCNews.com.
