Tim Pawlenty or Kelly Ayotte as Romney’s VP Pick? (VIDEO)
Who will Mitt Romney pick as his No. 2? It’s a game of wait-and-see right now as the Republican presidential hopeful keeps us waiting as to who he will choose as his vice presidential running mate.
“I think the VP candidate Mitt Romney is going to choose is Tim Pawlenty,” says Joanne Bamberger, founder of the political blog PunditMom, Editor-in-Chief of The Broad Side, and author of Mothers of Intention: How Women & Social Media are Revolutionizing Politics in America. “I don’t think he has it in him to choose anyone other than someone like himself,” Bamberger continued. “I think he will follow the George H.W. Bush pattern of choosing a vice president – someone who is qualified to take over as president but who will not outshine him on the campaign trail.”
And what about the prospects of Romney choosing a woman as his running mate?
“I think if Mitt Romney was smart, he would pick a woman, even though I know people are very scared of that in the GOP these days,” she said. So who would that woman be? New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte, former attorney general of her state, Bamberger says. “I think there’s a small chance that could happen.”
