Meghan McCain is no shrinking violet when it comes to writing on the Web.
The edgy MSNBC contributor, Daily Beast columnist and avid Twitterer is not afraid to speak her mind – a characteristic she says all aspiring journalists and bloggers should have. ”People love me and people love to hate me. It’s never that people have ambivalent feelings toward me,” McCain told genConnect.

So what inspires Meghan McCain?
She loves Hunter S. Thompson and women journalists like New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd and Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan. ”I just love any sort of ballsy women that say what they feel and really put it out there,” McCain said.

Her advice for upcoming journalists or bloggers?
“Don’t be scared of the reaction,” she said. “Sometimes you just have to really put it out there and be honest with yourself … be authentic to your own voice and who you are.”
