Jon Huntsman hopes to chip away at Mitt Romney’s lead in the New Hampshire primary; here are 5 things to know about the former Utah governor

Jon Huntsman is on a roll heading into the New Hampshire primary.

The Republican presidential hopefuls will square off once again Tuesday – all but Michele Bachmann, however, who dropped out of the race after a poor Iowa caucus showing last week – and Huntsman is experiencing a surprising jump in the polls. Mitt Romney likely will enjoy a comfortable victory tomorrow, but four new polls show that the former Utah Gov. Huntsman might close in on Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, for second place. Huntsman’s star shined Sunday night during the New Hampshire debates.

Hunstman wants to crack down on big banks that are a threat to the economy, wants to pull U.S. troops out of Afghanistan “fast,” and is hitting Romney hard in hopes of chipping away at the former Massachusetts’ governor’s lead.

Here are 5 other things you should know about Huntsman:

1.) He is fluent in Mandarin and is the former U.S. ambassador to China under President Obama  - a position Romney is pounding him for in the media; he has extensive foreign policy experience.

2.) He has three daughters (he’s a father of seven), who say he hates mayonnaise and is a huge fan of music – even rock n’ roll. That love of music dates back to 1978, when Huntsman dropped out of his senior year of high school to play keyboards in his band, “Wizard.” [Watch Huntsman rock on the piano in the video below]

3.) He is actually related to Romney; the two are cousins with a common ancestor, early Utah settler and Mormon leader Parley Parker Pratt.

4.) He is one of Utah’s wealthiest businessman, with a net worth of approximately $1 billion.

5.) His father moved his family to Maryland in 1970 and launched the Huntsman Container Corporation, which famously created the “clamshell” container for McDonald’s Big Mac.
