Donald Trump’s Advice for 2012 Olympic Hopefuls (VIDEO)
Donald Trump is no stranger to the streets of New York City. However, he made a surprise appearance at the United States Olympic Committee‘s Road to London event, which celebrated 100 days out from the London Summer Games, to take pictures with 2012 Olympians and offer advice on how to succeed.
Watch Mr. Trump share his advice and more below:
For those who can’t make it to London to see the athletes compete, the USOC has launched the “Raise Our Flag” campaign, which gives fans the opportunity to financially support the team by “purchasing a stitch” in the flag that Team USA will carry during the Opening Ceremonies.
With the government providing absolutely no funding for the 2012 Olympic Games, the financial support for Team USA comes entirely from sponsor and public donations, including the funds from Raise Our Flag.
“The private sector puts up a lot of money and a lot of heart,” Trump told genConnect. “They get these athletes [to London] and then the athletes win and there is something nice about that.”
Fans can see the flag being made at New Jersey-based Annin Flagmakers on the USOC web site. The flag was completed by July 13. Didn’t get your stitch in? You can still donate and support Team USA. Find out how here. You can also follow the effort on Twitter at #RaiseOurFlag.
