Renowned beer sommeliers Christina Perozzi and Hallie Beaun loved beer so much, they created a community to celebrate the beverage. With the creation of The Beer Chicks, Perozzi and Beaun work to get the word out that beer can be pleasurable to anyone’s palate – you just have to find the right one for you. The dynamic duo hopes to change events like the Food & Wine Classic to the Food & Wine & Beer Classic, with the intention of redefining people’s perception of beer.
“We want people to think differently,” Beaun added. “If you’re having a fine cheese, why not have a Belgian-style double [ale]? There’s no reason to just use beer to wash back food. That’s very limited.”

So, what is a craft beer? “The definition has changed over time,” Perozzi told genConnect. “It used to mean a brewery that produced only or less than fifteen thousand barrels a year. But now it’s not about the quantity, it’s about the quality. It’s about what kind of grains do you use, what kind of care do you take … what kind of expertise do you have in making the beer and ultimately how good is it.”
