Keeping Your Eye on the Ball in Times Square (VIDEO)

What could be better than playing volleyball next to the surf in the sand, with loyal followers looking on? How about playing in the middle of New York’s Times Square? Watch beach volleyball athletes Jennifer Fopma & Whitney Pavlik on the experience of playing their sport in Times Square, and how they stay focused:

“Playing in Times Square – that can never be beat, it was awesome,” Pavlik said.

Fopma and Pavlik reached the Olympic level with extreme focus and a lot of practice. “I think setting a certain goal for yourself and having that in the back of your mind all the time – no matter what you’re doing – knowing that you’re always pushing to achieve that goal, like the Olympics, keeps you pretty motivated and pretty focused,” said Pavlik.

What advice do they have for aspiring young volleyball stars?

“Keep enjoying it,” Pavlik said, for as long as you can.

And “never give up,” Fopma added.
