What is the best way to serve brains? Or wildebeest? Just ask Andrew Zimmern, host of the Travel Channel series “Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern.” His experiences tasting iconic dishes from every hemisphere has inspired a forthcoming book for young adults called Andrew Zimmern’s Field Guide to Exceptionally Weird, Wild, and Wonderful Foods: An Intrepid Eater’s Digest. Watch Zimmern talk more about his wacky food guide:
“As a father of a 7-year old, I felt that there was not a good children’s book – or young adult book for that matter – that harnesses the energy of everything that we see around us … everything that’s great and fun and naughty and adventur-ey about the food world,” Zimmern told genConnect. “I thought, ‘I wanted to take on that challenge.’”
The book, which comes out October 30, 2012, highlights Zimmern’s most memorable weird, wild, and wonderful foods will fascinate and delight eaters of all ages. He hopes his book makes kids more accepting of other cultures and backgrounds – with food at the center of the discussion.
“I’ve always believed that the message of ‘Bizarre Foods’ is acceptance and tolerance,” Zimmern said. “Everything I do has to fit that same model.”
