What is gold medal-winning wheelchair basketball star Alana Nichols looking forward to most about the 2012 London Paralympic Games? “Practicing my fake British accent,” she jokes. “I’m just excited to perform, excited to put it out there, excited to do my best and I think the women’s wheelchair basketball team is ready to go.” Watch Nichols talk about the exciting road to the 2012 London Paralympics:
Nichols became the first American woman to win gold medals at both the summer and winter Paralympic Games as she excels at both basketball and alpine skiing.
Although Nichols is incredibly humble, she is a bit of a superstar back in her home town of Farmington, N.M. ” It’s awesome,” she said. “I have my own day there; May 7th is my day. Once that day comes along, we’ll have a big Paralympic celebration.”
