Women make approximately 80 percent of health-care decisions for their families, so it’s no surprise that Shwen Gwee, vice president of Digital Health for Edelman, is paying attention to what women are saying about health and health-related issues. Watch Gwee explain to genConnect why he calls women “chief health officers:”
Gwee recently participated in BlogHer’s first-ever HealthMinder Day, a multi-track adjunct day that took place just one day before the annual BlogHer Conference on August 3-4, 2012. The idea was sparked from the BlogHer community’s above average interest in health-related information: 39 percent were more likely to give advice about health than the average woman online while 57 percent read health and wellness blogs.
“When it comes to household, women play a really big part in determining what course of action to take when it comes to health,” Gwee said. “So, understanding their mindset and how they think and also understanding the questions, concerns and considerations they take when it comes to health will be very important.”
