“Health care and technology are a natural fit for each other and we are actually starting to see an incredible amount of innovation in this area,” Sharma told genConnect. “I’m very excited about it because I’ve worked in this area for about twenty years and it’s been slow-coming but it’s coming.”

One area in which Sharma sees a big problem is that of consumer discovery of health information, which is why she and her team at FoundHealth hope to help those seeking health information online through a 3-step approach: discover what treatments are available, learn what those treatments and contextualize the information by reading stories from the FoundHealth community.
“We think this is a really important part of where we can help people make health decisions in a way they really weren’t able to do before,” she added.
