The key is to staying motivated, Harper says. “I would tell you, as someone who travels around all the time, forget about the exercise, it’s too much,” he said. “But really focus on your diet – diet is everything.”
But when you’re dieting, how much energy should you put into what you should – or should not – be eating? Harper says don’t obsess; pick a set of guidelines to try to live by and adhere to those guidelines.

“It doesn’t need to be a struggle,” Harper told Sorkin. “Remember two words I’m going to tell you: lean and green. Go for your protein – your meat – and go for a vegetable. Stay away from everything else.”
