Matthieu Ricard is a Buddhist monk, photographer and author. Ricard has lived around the Himalayas for 40 years and spends much of his time working as the main coordinator for Karuna-Shechen, which provides education, medical and social services, care of the elderly and assistance to individuals in need around the world. Ricard has written several books, including: The Monk and the Philosopher: A Father and Son Discuss the Meaning of Life, The Quantum and the Lotus: A Journey to the Frontiers Where Science and Buddhism Meet, Happiness: A Guide to Developing Life’s Most Important Skill and Why Meditate: Working with Thoughts and Emotions.
