Lynda Resnick: ‘Leave Your Mark’ and Give Back (VIDEO)

Philanthropist and entrepreneur Lynda Resnick has created successful brand after successful brand. Resnick and her husband own Paramount Farms and Paramount Citrus Companies, Teleflora and FIJI Water, and she has been the brains behind wildly popular marketing campaigns for the likes of POM Wonderful. But she also gives back in big ways. Watch Resnick talk about the importance of giving back in business:

WATCH: Marketing Guru Lynda Resnick – Fix Education SystemsWhat sort of example does she hope to demonstrate to other entrepreneurs? “It isn’t as hard as it used to be to be a woman entrepreneur,” she said. “It’s wonderful to create good brands that are good for people and healthy. But it’s also equally important, in fact, even more important, that you give back whatever you can to this world that we live in.” One of the ways Resnick has done that is by investing in the central valley of California, an area rich in agriculture. She has built a charter school in the valley, a pre-school and has helped donate scholarships to families that work for her brands in the farming business. “Whatever we do, the important thing is to leave your mark in some way in giving back to people who can’t do for themselves,” Resnick told genConnect. “I find that even more rewarding than the business.” Watch Resnick discuss her upcoming conversation at the Aspen Ideas Festival with New York Times best-selling author Walter Issacson about building community in California:

Resnick is is in the process of starting a small education initiative in the valley, as well, which she hopes to eventually expand to a larger area, in order “to really move the needle on education.”
