Greg Louganis: Olympic Athletes Can’t Fall Through the Cracks (VIDEO)
Olympic legend Greg Louganis is mentoring divers of all ages and trying to make sure that after their Olympic performances, athletes don’t fall through the cracks.
Watch Greg discuss the importance of Olympic athlete aftercare, and what’s on his own personal bucket list:
As a mentor for USA Diving, Louganis is always telling athletes and coaches to focus on their performance.
“You can’t be focusing on results. Results will happen, but first things first, you have to take care of your performance,” Louganis told genConnect at the Road to London event in Times Square.

While athletes often work toward their Olympic dreams their entire lives, after the Olympics are over, many are at a loss of what to do next. Louganis says athlete aftercare is vital. Athletes need to get involved in mentoring, or take an interest in the business side of their sport.
“The Olympics is such a high-high and after a high-high there’s usually a low-low,” Louganis said. “There are so many stories where a lot of our Olympic heroes, they fall through the cracks and I don’t want that to happen to other athletes.”
