Education, Health Care in Need Of a Redesign (VIDEO)
IDEO has been at the forefront of design for years. The award-winning global design firm takes a human-centered, design-based approach to helping organizations in the public and private sectors innovate and grow. It’s even helping to create health care exchanges that states can soon use to implement health care reform. Watch IDEO’s CEO Tim Brown talk about how design crafts the world that we experience:

“Everything in our man-made world is designed. It’s either designed intentionally or unintentionally,” Brown says. “What design does is craft the world that we can experience.”
So what in this world is most in need of a redesign?
Education, for one, Brown said. “Really struggling to create education that’s cost effective is a real opportunity for design,” he said.
There is also room for innovation in health care, Brown said. IDEO has been working with the California Health Care Foundation to create a prototype platform that states can use to facilitate the health care exchanges that aim to give consumers more choice when it comes to their health plans.
“We were trying to create the best possible user experience for people to do what is a pretty complicated task,” Brown said.
