Diverse Thinking Creates Better Solutions (VIDEO)
Supporting military communities, veterans and wounded warriors has long been part of Booz Allen’s mission; leading the charge is Senior Vice President and former United States Army officer Angela Messer. Watch Messer talk with genConnect about helping veterans, creating diversity and more:

As someone who leads the firm’s Army business within the broader defense market, Messer, a US veteran herself, has unique view into the communities she works with.
“We think it’s important to understand our client’s missions. So if you have walked in the shoes of your clients… it helps get great insight to what our clients need and want.”

Supporting the military isn’t the only initiative Messer is spearheading. As a second generation Cuban-American, she advocates for multiple diversity and volunteer initiatives for Latin American leaders and Senior African American Mentoring circles.
“I’ve been offered a lot of opportunities, I’ve achieved great things in life and I enjoy helping others,” Messer told genConnect. “From a diversity standpoint, for me personally, making sure I give everyone an opportunity and help as a mentor, as a sponsor and a senior leader in our company [is important].”

If you’re going to really help clients solve hard problems, you’ve got to have the best thinking,” Messer said. “When you combine diverse backgrounds, diverse experiences and different ideas, you’ll always get the best solution.”
