Ever wonder how the Internet works? Since it’s inception in the late 20th century, the Internet has become such an integral part of global society, it’s hard to imagine how mankind ever lived without it. The Internet age has been short, but fruitful. There are improvements being made everyday that help bring the world together and allow people to share their ideas. However, none of it would be possible without the hard work of the companies that help make those improvements. One of these companies is ICANN.

President and CEO of The Internet Corporation for Assigned Named and Numbers (ICANN), Fadi Chehade, tells genConnect what ICANN is all about at Techonomy 2014.

Screen Shot 2015-04-09 at 7.07.19 PMIn just two years, Fadi Chehade transformed the small California-based company into a large global corporation with a presence in 25 countries. ICANN’s mission is to unify the Internet to make it a more seamless system of networks by ensuring that it remains open, global, and universal. ICANN’s roll is like the middle man in that it takes the user from the application to their desired network.

ICANN is a fairly new company, but it has grown a lot during it’s short lifespan. It has so much more potential to keep growing and make a greater global impact.
