Watch genConnect CEO Nancy Spears interview CNBC anchor Maria Bartiromo speak on taking risks at a young age, advice for graduating journalists and her three rules of success:

To Recap: “I have followed three simple rules… Number one: Work hard. There are no shortcuts. It’s not about whom you know, how you know them, who knows your family. There are no shortcuts. Work hard. Number two: Love what you do. Don’t go into a job because you think you’re going to get rich from it. You must love what you do. You must wake up every morning racing to get at it because that will enable you to be at the right place at the right time and perhaps get a little luck. Number three: Do the right thing. We all know when faced with a dilemma, this thing is right and this thing is wrong. Do the right thing because there is only one thing that will follow you wherever you go and that is your reputation. Cherish it and protect it. Those are three rules of success. Very simple, but they work.”
