Vanity Fair’s Krista Smith: How to Rock Journalism (VIDEO)

There are many young men and women coming through the ranks of journalism school these days. With an ever-changing media market, how does one know where to go to get a job and determine their future?

Vanity Fair‘s West Coast Editor Krista Smith talks with genConnect about her career journey and advice for young journalists coming up in the age of new media:


“You have to want to work really hard and you have to love working hard and you have to enjoy that process,” Smith said. Especially with this generation coming up, she adds, “people want to get to the end game and I get that.”

“You have to be patient about getting the experience so you can get to that point. And I think a lot of people want to jump ahead and have a certain sense of entitlement that actually eliminates experiences and jobs in a weird way.”
