Actor Charlie Sheen has made many headlines lately for reports of his drug and alcohol use, and broader lifestyle that is full of tabloid fodder.
But now the “Two and a Half Men” star is speaking out about rehab, his television boss Chuck Lorre, how he plans to sue for “tons,” and how he is on a drug – a drug called “Charlie Sheen.” We reached out to career expert Vicki Salemi for her thoughts on the troubled star.
genConnect career expert Vicki Salemi says that based on Sheen’s recent interviews and soundbites, he is “committing career suicide.”
“You should never bite the hand that feeds you, let alone publicly! He’s doing an exemplary job of what I always advise people not to do: Never burn your bridges,” Salemi says.
Salemi also recommends Sheen take “the high road,” meaning: Focus on his life and his family and avoid the spotlight right now to mend his life. “Each time he talks he keeps digging himself deeper,” she adds.
As for Sheen demanding he get paid $3 million (up from about $1.2 million) an episode for a show that went on hiatus after the recent round of Sheen news – Salemi says he is out of touch with reality. Given the poor economic situation, many Americans are afraid to negotiate for even $1,000 more after getting a job offer — let alone $2 million!
“He’s clearly out of sync and to say he deserves a specific amount especially after execs just canceled the rest of the season goes without saying,” Salemi continued. “Unfortunately, I do think ratings will soar next year if and when the show continues which will drive up ad revenues for the show, etc. He would technically be the driving force – without Charlie, there is only one and one-half men, not two and a-half men; doubtful the show would go on without him.”
