Marilinda Garcia

Marilinda Garcia was elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 2006, at 23 years of age and is consistently endorsed by groups that are pro-family, pro-2nd amendment, pro-educational choice and pro-economic liberty. During her first term she served on the Committee on Children and Family Law, and now in her second term serves on the Committee on Election Law. Born of an Italian-American mother and Spanish-American father, Marilinda has been featured in the Latino Futures, LATINO and Latino Leaders magazines respectively.

Ms. Garcia earned her B.A., cum laude, from Tufts University in 2006 and concurrently completed a B.M. with Academic Honors and Distinction in Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music. In 2010 she graduated from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government where she received a Master of Public Policy and was the recipient of a full tuition Public Service Fellowship.

Ms. Garcia worked for three years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused/neglected children at the District Court in Salem, NH. She also serves as a mentor, panelist and faculty-in-residence for young undergraduate women at St. Anselm’s College through the New Hampshire Institute of Politics and the Women’s Leadership Institute and has worked with the Vesta Roy Excellence in Leadership Series which trains Republican women for political leadership. In 2010 Ms. Garcia was invited to speak at an RNC event for promising young Republicans and at the first annual GOPAC Hispanic Leadership Training Institute.

Ms. Garcia teaches Harp Performance at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH and Gordon College in Wenham, MA. In addition, she has traveled extensively as a Cultural Ambassador for the Youth Orchestra of the Americas (YOA). Hosted by embassies and government institutions, YOA conducted community outreach programs and concertized in approximately 15 modern and developing countries across the Americas and Europe during Ms. Garcia’s tenure with the orchestra. She also performs regularly with her sister, flutist Bianca Garcia, most recently as part of a concert series in Rome, Italy.

Ms. Garcia traveled to India as part of a Harvard Kennedy School of Government program to facilitate interaction with business school students in New Delhi and attended meetings, panel-discussions and lectures with chief executives, government officials and NGOs. She was also nominated to the American Council of Young Political Leaders and selected to travel as part of an ACYPL delegation to Taiwan. Marilinda currently works in marketing and program development for St. John International University, an American university in Torino, Italy and resides with her family in Salem, NH.
