Veteran journalist Chris Gray Faust’s tips on how to find your niche in this industry as a freelancer
Chris Gray Faust, winner of a 2010 Lowell Thomas writing award for travel blogging, is the former travel editor at USA TODAY. A journalist for 20 years, Chris has worked as a reporter and editor at the Philadelphia Inquirer, the New Orleans Times-Picayune and the York (Pa.) Daily Record.
Chris is also active with social media, with accounts on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, StumbleUpon and foursquare. She’s a member of the Society of American Travel Writers, a columnist for Frommers.com and a member of the USA TODAY Travel Alliance blog network.
Chris currently lives in Seattle with her husband, photography enthusiast Don Faust. She maintains membership in the New Orleans Mardi Gras organization, Krewe of Muses. A graduate of Brown University and the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, Chris has covered everything from politics to poverty to pollution, but her passions are food, travel, pop culture and social media.
