One of the first common mistakes parents make is getting in to extremes of being too strict or too leienient with children, Blaine explained. “The extreme doesn’t allow children to take responsibility,” she says. “I think a middle of the road is a nice place to be. Where you’re setting your limits and you’re giving your children some freedom.”

Other common parenting mistakes Blaine notes is having the assumption that the way we were parented is the way we should parent our children today and having the inability to see the world through our children’s eyes.

“Sometimes take their point of view and see what the world’s like from their small prospective,” Blaine suggests. “Your relationship will definitely be more strengthened.”

“I think really the question should be, ‘how easy is it to prioritize your life as a woman?’” Blaine says. “Are you a mom? Are you working? Are you staying home and raising the children full-time?”

Blaine doesn’t talk about whether one can “have it all“; rather, she prioritizes what’s most important each day – whether it be her job, her kids, etc… – a luxury she has because she runs her own company – and still be a good parent and effective worker.
