AREDAY Renewable Energy Summit Kicks Off Next Week

AREDAY is next week! Do you have your ticket yet?

AREDAY, the American Renewable Energy Day summit, will be held next week, Aug. 17-21, in Aspen, CO, and some of the biggest – and wealthiest – names in renewable energy circles will be on hand to help put great green ideas into action.

The 8th annual AREDAY will have an increased focus on the economic opportunities that are available with carbon reduction; this year’s theme is “Putting the Green in Green: Monetizing Carbon in the Global Economy.”

“The fact is that there are 7 billion people on the planet. The United States is 4 percent of the world’s population and yet we consume 40 percent of world’s natural resources and emit 25 percent of the world’s CO2. How is that produced? By burning coal, gas, and oil with a great deal of inefficiency,” said AREDAY Co-Founder Chip Comins. “All of this can be monetized. Renewable energy and energy efficiency are practical solutions to the climate crisis.”

This year’s speakers and participants include:

  • T. Boone Pickens, BP Capital
  • Ted Turner, Turner Enterprises
  • Dr. Jane Lubchenco, Administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
  • General Wesley Clark, co-char of Growth Energy
  • Jim Calaway, The Aspen Institute
  • Randy Hayes, Rainforest Action Network and Foundation Earth

“We’ve got to go from a worldwide economy based on fossil fuels to a worldwide economy of extracting carbon from the atmosphere,” said Comins. “AREDAY is always pushing the envelope with provocative themes. …Not only will attendees learn about solutions to climate change and renewable energy, but there is an enormous opportunity for networking.”
